Already claimed rewards before?
Complete the Duels achievements and you can change your hero, weapon and imprint picks as many times as you like. Heroes have changed and weapons were fully reworked since the last beta, so your old pick may no longer be the best one.
Game Modes
Duel a Friend PvP
- Create a room with your deck and share the room code; your opponent joins with it.
- Elo-style rating with a leaderboard: beating higher-ranked players earns more points, beating lower-ranked players earns very few.
- Your final placement decides which exclusive titles you receive.
- Fateless plans Discord rooms grouped by Elo so you can find opponents at your level.
Skirmish PvE
- Battle the AI at a difficulty you choose before each match (Rare and Legendary difficulties were shown).
- Has its own leaderboard, ranked by how many achievements you have earned.
- Achievements get harder the further you push, so you can progress at your own pace.
- The AI was tuned up before launch; do not be surprised if it beats you.
Also included: a tutorial for players new to card games, daily challenges, achievements and leaderboards.

How a Match Works
- Goal: reduce the enemy general (their hero) to 0 HP before they do the same to you.
- Mulligan: each match opens with a chance to keep or swap your starting cards. Keep some 1 and 2 cost cards so you are not stuck doing nothing for the first few turns.
- Aether: every card has an aether cost, and you gain one more aether each turn. Cheap plays come early, big cards later.
- Units: play unit cards to your side of the board to attack and to shield your general. Units normally cannot attack on the turn they are played.
- Weapon: every general is equipped with a weapon that has its own aether cost and effect, for example giving a unit Swift or giving your hero +1 attack.
- Ultimate: each general has a high-cost ultimate usable once per match. King Arthur's summons two knights with Intercept; another deck's deals 4 damage to all enemies.
- Imprints: some hero cards can be attached to a unit as an imprint instead of being played, adding keywords such as Cleave and Drain. Save them for a unit with high attack.
Keywords
| Intercept | Enemies must attack this unit first. A wall for protecting your general. |
| Swift | This unit can attack on the turn it is played. |
| Cleave | Attacks also hit adjacent enemies. |
| Drain | Seen in the reveal; exact effect not confirmed yet. |
| Acid | Seen in the reveal; exact effect not confirmed yet. |
In game, hover over any keyword to see what it does.

Tips for Getting Started
- It is a game of momentum and board control: you are either stopping the enemy's momentum or building your own.
- When behind, play units as a barrier and take as little damage as possible. Intercept units are ideal for this.
- Once you control the board you do not always need more units. Spending a turn drawing cards keeps your advantage and makes enemy board clears less valuable.
- Watch for swing turns: if the enemy ultimate floods the board, an area-damage ultimate can reset it instantly.
- When the enemy general is low, stop trading with units and go straight for their face.
