Which Deck Should I Play?
Every pre-built Godforge Duels deck, what it is good at and how to play it, plus the decks I use to farm the free rewards.
Each deck shows my test results. The pre-built decks have only been tested against the Common AI so far.
Pre-built Decks
You start with Smith's Revenge. The first Forge Trials unlock the other four. To see a deck in game, open it in the Armory and press Copy.
Smith's Revenge
Your first deck, and the best for learning.
- Play a hero every turn and send everything at the enemy General.
- Use Redlust every turn on your newest hero so it can attack straight away. It needs a hero of yours on the board.
- Save the Ultimate (4 damage to every enemy hero) for when they have a wide board of small heroes.
The Dead that are Due
If you like trading heroes and getting value when they die.
- Sigurd, Warband's Charge and Valhalla's Calling (Phoenix) make trades work in your favour.
- Seeress gives your other Asgard heroes +1/+1, so play her before them.
- Finish with Battle Cry plus Ox Tongue Spear: a wide board with +1 Attack is often lethal.
Weigh the Scales
Lots of removal and heroes that come back.
- Curse of the Tomb and Judgement of Ma'at handle the heroes that matter.
- Two Valkyries buff each other and your board; wide boards with extra Attack race the AI easily.
- Ankh costs 5, so this deck is slow for the Weapon Master reward.
Strike from the Heavens
If you would rather wall up and win slowly.
- Intercept heroes (Shieldmaiden, Shub-Lugal) protect your General while Ward and healing keep them alive, and Hippolyta makes your other Olympus heroes bigger.
- Hold an Icarus: its Acid removes the enemy's Intercept on the turn you go for lethal.
- Sistrum heals 2 and always has a target, so it is easy to use every turn.
Yomi's Decree
For players who like to trade and wipe the board.
- Draw cards, trade carefully, and let the enemy over-commit.
- The Ultimate slays every hero, yours too, so play it when you are behind on board.
- Pandora's Box draws a card for 2 of your own life, so it always counts toward the Weapon Master reward.
Decks I Built
Build these in the Armory with New Deck. Cards you do not own yet can be swapped for others from the same realm or affinity.
Imprint Farm
- Drag Dagonet, Mabon, Desert Raider and Babi onto heroes you already have. Clicking them summons them instead.
- Ox Horn makes a 1/1 Hoplite every turn to imprint on, and each use counts toward the Weapon Master reward too.
- Winning does not matter. Imprint whenever you can.
Beat Legendary (Free Cards)
Only free cards: the Neutrals plus the starter-deck cards you unlock with Forge Trials 1 to 4. No packs needed.
- Play a hero every turn. Get Akuma and Valkyrie down early: they make your other heroes bigger.
- Shub-Lugal's Intercept protects your General and your other heroes. Hattori Hanzo and Tomoe Gozen have Swift, so trade with them straight away.
- Spend spare Aether on Thunderbolt (3): it adds a Bolt to your hand.
- Yomi's Decree slays every hero on both sides. Save it for when you are behind on the board, then rebuild with Ran and the cards Osiris and Shaolin Monk drew.
Wayland Rush (Free Cards)
Fast, and no unlocks needed: Wayland is the general you start with, and every card is free.
- Play Akuma on turn 3, then Tomoe Gozen or Hattori Hanzo. Akuma gives your other Izumo heroes +1 Attack and +1 Defense, and both have Swift, so they hit the same turn.
- Use Redlust (2) to give your newest hero Swift so every hero attacks the turn it lands.
- Berserker, Minotaur and Hercules have Frenzy and grow when they are hit. Let the enemy attack into them.
- Save Smith's Revenge (4 damage to every enemy) for when they have a wide board of small heroes.
Best Deck for Every General
The strongest deck I found for each General, tested against the Legendary AI. They need a full collection, including several Legendaries. Missing a card? Swap it for one from the same realm or affinity, or start with the free-card decks above.
Best Anubis Deck
A Vanish deck: Nefertiti, Tengu, Aslaug, Poludnitsa and Sun Wukong are hard to target, so their removal has little to hit.
- Babi and Spartan pressure early, Curse of the Tomb and Banshee remove their best hero, and Ra and Isis refill the board late.
- Ankh keeps bringing heroes back, and Anubis's Ultimate slays their best hero and revives one of yours.
Best Camazotz Deck
A Vengeance deck that wants its heroes to die.
- Sigurd, Onryo, Hound of Duat, Odin and Chernobog all punish the enemy on death, and Xquic keeps coming back to fuel it.
- Skadi and three Reckonings clear wide boards.
- Camazotz's Ultimate revives two Vengeance heroes for a second round of triggers.
- Trade early and often.
Best Enki Deck
A sturdy midrange deck.
- Ma Chao and Beowulf win the early trades, Ryujin and Shub-Lugal wall up, and Devana plus Flood of Creation break wide boards while healing you.
- Enki's Ultimate fully restores your Health, so you can afford long games: Ninsun and Nanaya keep your hand full while you grind them out.
- Redlust lets a fresh hero attack right away when the trade is good.
Best Hel Deck
An Asgard Vengeance deck.
- Skadi and Brecilien Archer clear small heroes, Sigurd hits back when it dies, and Vidar returns with Phoenix.
- Brynhild and Shub-Lugal hold the line while Odin and Oda Nobunaga punish wide boards.
- Trade freely: your heroes are built to die usefully, and Hel's six Shades finish the game.
- Ox Horn adds a body every turn to keep the trades going.
Best Izanami Deck
A control deck with lots of card draw (Mabon, Fae Enchantress, Ankhesenamun, Nanaya, Odysseus).
- Wall up with Brynhild, Ryujin and Shub-Lugal, Stun their best heroes with Himiko, and trade until they run out of steam.
- Save Izanami's Ultimate (slay all heroes) for when their board is clearly better than yours, ideally with cards in hand to rebuild.
- Ox Horn gives you a body every turn for trades.
Best King Arthur Deck
A wall of Intercept heroes up front (Tristan, Hou Yi, Shub-Lugal) while Swift heroes do the damage.
- Every hit on an Intercept hero heals your General through Isolde, and each heal makes Tristan tougher.
- Save Ward (Stand Your Ground, Fisher King) for your best attacker.
- Ankh brings heroes back in long games, and the Ultimate's two 4/5 Intercept Knights lock the board late.
- Reckoning and Banshee answer wide or big boards.
Best Sun Wukong Deck
A Vanish and Intercept deck.
- Inari, Aslaug, Tengu and Poludnitsa are hard to target while Druid and Hou Yi wall up, and Pántáo gives your best hero Phoenix.
- Mulan and Fenrir remove threats, and Ten Suns clears boards when you're behind.
- Sun Wukong's Ultimate copies your best hero with Swift, so copy something big.
- Xoxocoatl pings finish off damaged heroes.
Best Svarog Deck
A grindy Vyraj deck: Vila and Poludnitsa Bleed their heroes, Brynhild and Athena wall up, and Ran, Ankhesenamun and Fae Enchantress keep your hand full.
- Ra and Chernobog punish wide boards.
- Svarog's Ultimate refills your hand to seven, so spend cards freely before using it.
- Ox Horn gives you a body every turn for trades.
Best Wayland the Smith Deck
Fast Izumo aggro.
- Akuma buffs your other Izumo heroes, so lead with it and follow with Tomoe Gozen and Hattori Hanzo.
- Dobrynya and Hou Yi hold the line while you keep attacking.
- King Arthur and Hercules finish games, and Wayland's Ultimate (4 damage to every enemy) clears blockers for a final swing.
- Xoxocoatl pings clear 1-health heroes and Wards.
Best Zeus Deck
A tempo deck built on Olympus's best cheap heroes.
- Ma Chao grows every time it wins a trade, Icarus puts Acid on their wall, and Beowulf and Devana remove or soften their best heroes.
- Trade early, keep your board bigger than theirs, and let Y Ddraig Goch or Zeus's Ultimate clear what's left.
- Xoxocoatl pings finish off damaged heroes every turn.
Deck Building Rules
- Exactly 30 cards, plus one weapon. Any general can use any weapon.
- Every card must share your general's realm or affinity, or be Neutral.
- Up to 3 copies of a Common or Rare, 2 of an Epic and 1 of a Legendary. A few cards set their own limit.
