Going from a level 1 naked Hero to a fully maxed out Hero requires several steps and is the core of Godforge. Taking those Gods and Legends from useless pawns to their full potential to conquer the various challenges of the game is the core gameplay loop.

Level - Ascend - Scrolls

Like many Hero Collector RPGs, you can increase your Hero levels up to 60, greatly increasing their base stats and power. Leveling can be done by using Hero EXP Potions and promoting them by sacrificing low-quality or low-rarity heroes (or Spirits) to increase your Hero to 6 stars.

You can also Ascend those Heroes up to 6 pink stars. Each ascension stage increases the Hero stats, and unlocking 3 ascended stars unlocks the Hero Passive ability, greatly increasing their power.

Each ability can also be upgraded using Scrolls. This will unlock more power, better chances of Debuffs or Disables, lower cooldown, etc. This is the first essential way to max out your Heroes. The only question left is “Who do I 6* Next?”.

Gear - Attunement

Each Hero can equip up to 6 pieces of gear. There are currently 22 different gear sets in Godforge. Each set gives a bonus at 2 / 4 / 6 pieces equipped. For example, the Kraken gear set gives HP 1% each turn (Max 15 stacks) at 2 pieces, then HP +25% at 4 pieces, and if 6 pieces are equipped, a damage reduction from attack of 15%.

Gear can then be leveled to 16 to increase the substats value. When entering late to end game, you might even want to attune gear to your Heroes.

Attuned pieces of gear are locked on the Hero and cannot be removed without a fee. Therefore, it should only be used on Godlike pieces.  Once Attuned, a piece of gear will grant a further bonus to the Hero.

The type of gear you can attune depends on the hero archetype.

  • Defenders - Each piece of plate armor attuned gives a 1% reduction in incoming damage from hits.
  • Invokers - Each piece of Cloth attuned gives a 1% Healing and TM boost multiplier.
  • Brawlers - Each piece of Chain Mail attuned gives a 0.5% on all stats.
  • Disruptors - Each piece of Knightwaeve attuned gives a 1% ignore resistance.
  • Slayers - Each piece of Leather attuned gives a 1% Bonus damage.
  • This enables you to commit a build for a Hero late in the game and stop moving gear around.

Weapons - Imprints - Attunement

Like gear, each hero can equip 1 weapon. This weapon gives a bonus, and each upgrade of the weapon also gives bonus stats. Enhancing the levels increases the base stat of that weapon, the same way you level a champion, and increases the rank to 5 stars with duplicate weapons, same as for Heroes, increasing the weapon skills effects.

When entering a late-to-end game, you might even want to attune weapons to your Heroes. Attuned weapons are locked on the Hero and cannot be removed without a fee. Therefore, it should only be used on Godlike weapons or even relics.  Once Attuned, a weapon will grant a further bonus to the Hero. The type of weapon you can attune depends on the hero’s Faction.

You can also add an imprint into a weapon, giving your Hero a second passive of your choosing. To imprint, you need to sacrifice a Hero at the Anvil or have gained an imprint as a reward from the game.

For example, you can take Lady Xoc passive, which is: “Deals 20% increase damage to enemies under Bleed.” and imprint it on a weapon. If you use Lady Xoc imprint, then the Hero holding that weapon gains a second passive that reads: “Deals 10% increase damage to enemies under Bleed.”

You cannot imprint the same passive as the already existing passive. This allows you unlimited customisations of your Heroes skill set. You should therefore save heroes with great passives, even if they are otherwise underwhelming.

Masteries

(The Mastery system in Godforge is quite unique and novel. Unfortunately, it won’t be available in the Alpha, but probably during beta or at least at launch.)

Masteries will be uncovered by doing various tasks in the game. Defeating certain bosses or a certain way, clearing stages with some requirements, or simply by progressing into the game. Once unlocked, a Mastery can be applied to any and all Heroes available to the player.

Discovering and collecting Masteries will be a key part of your adventure in Godforge. The more Masteries you have at your disposal, the better you can fine tune your Heroes to the content they need to beat.

Relics

(The Reliquary system in Godforge is quite unique and novel. Unfortunately, it won’t be available in the Alpha, but probably during beta or at least at launch.)

Relics are unique, powerful weapons found inside Reliquaries. Reliquaries are accessed by meeting certain hidden requirements. For Example, doing stage 5 of the Aaru campaign, if you have both Ramses and Brynhild on the team, on wave 2, a secondary path will open, and you will face an enemy in the reliquary before going to wave 3. Defeating that enemy will reward you with a unique weapon that you can equip to your Heroes.

Discovering these hidden locations and their precious treasure will be a fun treasure hunt. The more relics you gain, the more powerful your hero's weapons.

Awakening

There are 5 levels of Awakening in Godforge. Awakening can be done by either a universal imprint of the right rarity or the imprint of a dupe of the hero you want to awaken.

Each level gives a bonus either to a skill or to that hero's capacity to use his ultimate.

  • Level 1 - Upgrade to basic Skill
  • Level 2 - Bonus to Initiative
  • Level 3 - Upgrade to Core Skill
  • Level 4 - Bonus to initial Divinity
  • Level 5 - Upgrade to Ultimate Skill

Having a level 5 awakened hero means he will gain more ultimate power, and his 3 skills will be way more potent. Awakening is one of the most potent ways to boost your Heroes' capacities.

With all these, you should be able to enjoy the maximum potential of your Heroes. The next step is understanding team synergy! Stay tuned for more!
